Shore Fishing Locations in Ottawa:

These are just a couple of Ottawas most popular shore Fishing locations but there are a number of hidden Gems out there. The most common fish species caught shore fishing in Ottawa are Perch, Sunfish, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Pike, Muskie, Walleye/Sauger, Carp and Gar.

Ottawa River Pathway goes along the Ottawa river and there is kilometers of accessible shoreline including near the Britannia Conservation area and Ottawa River South Shore Riverfront Park
Rideau River and Lakes All along the Rideau System there are lockstations and public access parks that you can fish from.

Ice Fishing near Ottawa

Anglers cannot fish the ice on many parts of the Ottawa River due to the lack of ice, current, Dams, etc. There are opportunities to target almost any open species within an hour of Ottawa including various trout, walleye, pike, panfish, etc. Though there are more these are 2 of the most popular Ice fishing locations nearby to try that are well used and generally safer:
Petrie Island – This is an Ice Hut Town on the Ottawa River (Most likely to Catch Pike and Panfish)
Shirleys Bay – This is a common Ice Access Point with lots of parking (Most Likely to Catch, Pike, Walleye/Sauger, Burbot, Panfish)
Zone 18 Lakes – Use the Fish ON website to find out which lakes have specific species that are open to target and find a public access point
